The two-day hula competition focuses on the unique culture dance, costume and music styles of the various islands, such as Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa and New Zealand. Over 400 participants from diverse cultures will be showcasing their knowledge and love for the Polynesian lifestyle and come from all corners of North America, Hawaii and islands of the South Pacific to compete and perform what they have learned.
In his first Florida concert Kalani Pe’a, Hawai’i’s 2017 Grammy award winner will be performing his award- winning songs. Nationally-renowned Hawaiian performer, Kalani is known for his traditional and contemporary Hawaiian style music. He will be performing live Saturday night, singing all the songs he’s noted for, including songs from his newly released album Ewalea with beautiful guest dancers on stage. Also appearing on stage is Florida’s own Hawaiian music group Anuenue performing their unique ‘Local Groove’ Hawaiian style jamz!
Toa Afi Fire Knife Competition will take place at sunset on Friday, July 27 and Finals on Sunday, July 29. Come witness the remarkable skills of fire knife performances of children, women and men. Admission is free. Location: Hotel grounds of Convention Center.
Among the many vendors present will be those from as far as Tahiti and Hawaii with Polynesian arts, crafts, jewelry, clothing and much more.
Early Bird Tickets available online: $15 adults & $10 kids 5-12 yrs. (2-days event); $20-$30 (Kalani Pe’a concert). Early Bird rate tickets can be purchased on the website until July 10, 2010, or until sold out. Tickets will be available at the door at a higher price.
