The Studios of Cocoa Beach is offering a four session after school art class “Magical Mixed Media” this October. Students grades 6 through 8 will make marvelous works of art from start to finish using mixed media techniques! Beginning with canvas and wood as foundations, you will add your own touches, guided by artist “Mr. Mark” Palmer, who will direct you step-by-step through this fascinating process. He will show you how to use found objects, acrylic paint, photo transfer, layering and texture to create unique compositions that you’ll be proud to display!
Mark Palmer of Rockledge is one of the resident artists at the Studios of Cocoa Beach. A Buffalo, NY native he began his art career in Washington DC then abandoned cosmopolitan city life and moved to Paducah KY. There he helped pioneer the resurgence of the historic but blighted “Lowertown” neighborhood. He purchased a pre-civil war building and renovated it to house his gallery, artist retreat and living spaces. Mark’s vibrant abstract works range from watercolor to mixed media incorporating acrylics, ink, collage, photo transfer, oil, aquarelle stick, and found objects.
The class will be taught at the Studios of Cocoa Beach, 165 Minuteman Causeway, in downtown Cocoa Beach on Tuesday afternoons, 4:30 to 6 pm October 1 to October 22.
Fee for the class is $60 plus a $15 supply fee. Students should bring their favorite memorabilia, scraps of paper, ephemera and found objects. Register online at https://www.studiosofococabeach.org
