The Studios of Cocoa Beach has chosen Nicky Ravine as the June Artist of the Month. Nicky divides his time between Satellite Beach and Fort Lauderdale. Being near the ocean is critical for Nicky who captures his love of the sea in his paintings. His Soul Surfing series combines waves with ancient Polynesian images. He explores the Nature of Balance in paintings that blur the dividing line between air and water, so you are likely to see dolphins and fish frolicking in the clouds. He fractures those images in works of Constructive Deconstruction. All of them are a visual treat inviting the viewer to re-imagine the ocean.
Nicky combines imagination, the internet and photography with the “brick and motor” of pencil, paper, brush and canvas. Images he gathers are altered with technology, added to or redrawn, recombined and cast aside until the final vision emerges. Nicky says ” My art is conceptual. I want to visually “talk Story”. I land upon themes and explore them deeper because they fascinate me. I hope one of my stories fascinates you”
Nicky’s work is on view daily at the Studios of Cocoa Beach, 165 Minuteman Causeway in downtown Cocoa Beach and on his website www.nickyravine.com. A print of Nicky’s painting “Friendly Skies” will be the prize in the Studio’s June giveaway. Visit the Studios any day in June to enter this free drawing.
